Here is a bit about me!

My name is Michael Eskenazi, I'm a professional guitarist working in the industry since 2012. After graduation from Ballard High School in Seattle, Washington I was offered a scholarship to New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and moved to New York City to pursue music.

During my time in New York, I studied with and was mentored by some of the finest musicians this planet has to offer. Some of those musicians include: Bruce Edwards, Charles Tolliver, Jimmy Owens, Vic Juris, Ed Cherry and Onaje Allan Gumbs, all of whom helped shape and mold my musical outlook and style.

I gained a great amount of professional musical experience while in New York City playing everywhere from churches, private parties, weddings, festivals, jazz clubs and everything in between. Playing in such a wide variety of settings has helped me to be able to fit the needs of what ever musical setting I find myself in and how to sustain myself as a musician making a living in a place with the most talented and abundant amount of musicians in the world. I was also employed as a teacher at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and the Fred Astaire Dance studio.

I am currently residing in the Seattle area where I am an active teacher and a core member of Gary Hammons group Last Of The Tribe.

Why people love learning from me!

Michael Eskenazi is an exciting guitarist who has recently returned to the Ballard area of Seattle. Though young in age, Michael has a mature warmth to his sound and a deep pocket and sense of swing like a seasoned veteran.

Michael is an excellent teacher that pushes you to understand core concepts.

Additionally, he emphasizes the “why” behind things and breaks concepts down into digestible chunks. His instruction style is very custom built to your abilities. You’ll progress far faster with him as a guide versus just watching guitar videos!! Micheal really wants his students to learn and do well.

— Jason Bain

Mike is an excellent teacher and very knowledgeable about music theory and how to apply it realistically.

— Zora Seboulisa

Mike is an incredible person, musician, and guitar teacher. Ive learned a lot from the short time we have been having lessons. I highly recommend for anyone who is serious about improving their understanding of a guitar.

— Josh Nucci

I'm a high school band director and Mike has worked with one of my students for the last couple of years. The student has made great progress not only in his skill as a guitarist, but also his musicianship. I cannot recommend Mike enough. He has also been working with a small group of my jazz students and he has helped make them a more musically conscious group.

— Zachariah MacIntyre

Mike is an excellent teacher who focuses not on just rote memorization of songs, but on core technique. I'd been learning on my own for a year or so before reaching out to him, and I saw immediate and consistent improvements even after the very first lesson. The things I used to struggle a great deal with are barely afterthoughts anymore thanks to him. He doesn't just know what he's talking about; he'll make sure that you do, too.

Lessons

Teaching is one of my greatest passions!

Molding to your learning style is both valuable and effective. Too often, I see musicians focus solely on teaching the instrument in hand, rather than encompassing the overall principles of learning music. I take a holistic approach, emphasizing the fundamental elements of music such as ear training, rhythm, tone, dynamics, and harmony.
